Racing Point has confirmed Sergio Perez will return to his rightful seat and race in the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend after testing negative for the coronavirus.
The team announced on Twitter: "We're pleased to share the news that Sergio Perez has tested negative for Covid-19. The FIA have confirmed that Checo can return to the F1 paddock and he will compete for the team in this weekend's SpanishGP"
Earlier this week it was reported that Nico Hulkenberg would also travel to Barcelona to be on stand by after standing in for the Mexican driver for the past two weeks. Hulkenberg did exceptionally well during the 70th Anniversary race last weekend when he was third fastest in qualifying and started the race third on the grid.
Perez had tested positive for Covid-19 at the end of July when he returned home to Mexico to visit his mother who had been injured during a car crash.
