On the eve of the 2020 Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Racing Point driver, Sergio Perez, tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. Perez, currently sixth in this year's drivers' championship, returned an inconclusive result after his first test, and had to be retested.
The second test yielded a positive result. As such, he will not participate in this weekend's race and could miss next weekend's event, too.
Series of hilarious tweets
Though the situation is serious, Racing Point took to Twitter to rope in a reserve driver. However, the series of tweets are all in jest and should not be taken seriously. One of the funnier responses came from Jenson Button who asked the team if they lost his number!
Racing Point, in the meantime, announced that Nico Hulkenberg will fill Perez's seat.
