• Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel will race for Aston Martin in 2021.

• Racing Point will rebrand to Aston Martin.

• The German driver replaces Sergio Perez.

Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel will remain in the sport after he struck a deal with Racing Point, who will rebrand to Aston Martin in 2021.

The 33-year-old German driver's contract wasn't renewed by Ferrari after five years with the Italian team. Vettel has 53 Grand Prix victories and won four consecutive titles with Red Bull Racing between 2010 – 2013.

"I am pleased to finally share this exciting news about my future. I’m extremely proud to say that I will become an Aston Martin driver in 2021," Vettel said.

"It’s a new adventure for me with a truly legendary car company. I have been impressed with the results the team has achieved this year and I believe the future looks even brighter."

Vettel will replace Mexican driver Sergio Perez and team up with Lance Stroll, whose father Lawrence owns the team. Germany is a big market for Aston Martin and it's likely that Vettel's strong marketing appeal will be used to assist the brand.
