Each automaker has its specific model that serves as its 'bread and butter' fixture in the line-up that accounts for the majority of sales per month or year.
For Mercedes-Benz, it is the C-Class sedan that has sold more than 10.5-million units since 1982. The German brand has now introduced an off-road or All-Terrain version of the sedan nameplate.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class All-Terrain is not sold in the country, mainly because Estate or stationwagon body shapes are not very popular choices locally when there are SUVs.
C-Class with a difference
Compared to the conventional C-Class Estate, the All-Terrain model has slightly increased dimensions. It is 4mm longer, measures 4 755-millimetres in total and has a ground clearance of 40mm. Space is further maximised with a rear that has a load capacity of 1 510-litres.

The model still features technological intricacies like MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), Avantgarde-specific seat upholstery and a high-resolution LCD screen.
Powering the larger chassis is a choice of either a four-cylinder petrol engine complete with a starter-generator and a four-cylinder diesel engine that comes with an integrated starter-generator and 48-volt electrical system. Sending power to all four wheels is done via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The Digital Light system and massage function are available as optional extras. At the same time, the driver can also choose the new Offroad driving mode, in addition to Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual.
