It was the strangest thing. We'd moved house the day before lockdown started in late March last year, and one of the last trips to the old house was to fetch the 1985 Golf GTI that spends much of its time under covers, as it has become truly collectable.

A few days later, I wanted to move it out of its new parking spot, and it started, travelled about 5m in reverse gear and then died. And that was it for the next few months!
