21 Nov

He'll fancy his chances of taking the lead heading into the final at the next race in Saudi Arabia, which is in just a week's time. Thanks for joining us this weekend and see you then.

21 Nov

So, Hamilton takes his second win in a row and closes the gap at the top of the standings to just eight points with two rounds to go.

21 Nov

The full result: Hamilton, Verstappen, Alonso, Perez, Ocon, Stroll, Sainz, Leclerc, Norris, Vettel, Gasly, Ricciardo, Tsunoda, Raikkonen, Giovinazzi, Schumacher, Russell, Mazepin. Did not finish: Latifi, Bottas.

21 Nov

Norris and Vettel take the final points.

21 Nov

Ocon just about holds onto P5 ahead of Stroll, Sainz and Leclerc. What a day for Alpine.

21 Nov

Perez crosses the line just two seconds later to secure P4 and close the gap to Mercedes.

21 Nov

Alonso takes P3!! His first podium since 2014!!

21 Nov

Verstappen takes P2 and the fastest lap! A great recovery.

21 Nov

Hamilton wins the Qatar Grand Prix!

21 Nov

Alonso's tyres have hit the cliff! Perez is catching rapidly!

21 Nov

Final lap and we're racing again...

21 Nov

Verstappen pits again, just in case, and to keep the fastest lap.

21 Nov

Virtual Safety Car! It's deployed to remove the Williams of Latifi. That will help Alonso's tyres...

21 Nov

Perez is catching him by over a second a lap now though... Three to go.

21 Nov

If Alonso does pit, he'll drop out of the points anyway, so he may as well stay out...

21 Nov

If he can make his tyres last, Alonso will surely get a podium. The gap to Perez is 9.3s with four laps left. That's a big if though...

21 Nov

This is a tough decision for Alpine. Do they take the risk and leave Alonso out?

21 Nov

Latifi: "The tyre felt fine. Not even a vibration."

21 Nov

Now Latifi has a puncture!

21 Nov

Bottas pulls into the pits to retire.

21 Nov

Russell has a puncture! His tyres were five laps older than Alonso's, but that's worrying for Alpine...

21 Nov

Norris pits from P4! Did McLaren spot a puncture? He's in P11 now.

21 Nov

Alpine tell Alonso to avoid high-speed kerbs...

21 Nov

Perez has some clean air now but Alonso has just done a personal best. Norris is between them.

21 Nov

At the front, Hamilton and Verstappen are having their own little battle for fastest lap with the Dutchman currently holding it. The gap between them is 8.9s.

21 Nov

The Frenchman does just that, losing the place at Turn 1 but attacking the Red Bull later in the lap. He can't get back ahead though.

21 Nov

Alpine to Ocon: "We must defend against Perez. Elbows out."

21 Nov

The Mexican takes P6 from Stroll. This fight for P3 is the one to watch. The gap is around 17 seconds with 11 laps left.

21 Nov

Alonso gave the Frenchman the win in Hungary with the way he held off Hamilton. Can his team-mate return the favour?

21 Nov

Alonso: "Tell Esteban to defend like a lion."

21 Nov

Perez is in P7, just under 20 seconds behind the Alpine driver.

21 Nov

If Alonso could pull off a one-stop, he could get a podium here. He did pit later than the frontrunners...

21 Nov

Hamilton and Perez do the same with all three on mediums.

21 Nov

Verstappen pits! He rejoins 20 seconds clear of his team-mate in P2.

21 Nov

Bottas's mediums lasted 25 laps. Verstappen and Hamilton have done just over 20 on hards with 17 laps left...

21 Nov

What happened to Bottas will make teams think twice about trying to do a one-stop race...

21 Nov

That's a huge moment for the Constructors' Championship. Red Bull will be just three points behind Mercedes as it stands.

21 Nov

35 laps was clearly a tad too long for the medium tyres. He makes it to the pits and rejoins in P14.

21 Nov

The Finn goes off into the gravel and is losing a huge amount of time! That's his race ruined!

21 Nov

Puncture for Bottas!

21 Nov

6.3s split Hamilton and Verstappen.

21 Nov

Bottas definitely won't have to pit again, but most of the others at the front most likely will. Things are looking good for the Finn...

21 Nov

WIth Bottas on fresh tyres once he pits, Perez needs to find some serious pace if he wants to take P3.

21 Nov

Perez gets past Alonso after the two go wheel to wheel for a number of corners. Hard but fair racing. Getting ahead of the Spaniard is never easy...

21 Nov

Verstappen: "Let's have a bit of fun. We are going to be second anyway so let's push and try and close the gap."

21 Nov

The Red Bull driver gets past soon afterwards though.

21 Nov

Leclerc locks up at Turn 1 and Alonso sneaks through while Perez can't.

21 Nov

He's faster than Alonso and will surely pass him soon...

21 Nov

Checo doesn't stay behind for long though, passing the Aussie at Turn 1.

21 Nov

Ricciardo is between the two as well, which will help the Alpine man a lot.

21 Nov

Alonso pits and rejoins three seconds ahead of Perez.

21 Nov

To make matters worse for the Mexican, Bottas passes Norris. Checo has now gotten ahead of Vettel though.

21 Nov

Perez tries to pass Vettel at Turn 1 but can't do so. While he's losing time, Alonso has just done a personal best on very old softs.

21 Nov

It's a bit surprising Red Bull didn't try to do the same with Perez given how good he is at making tyres last. He's rejoined in traffic too and is losing time.

21 Nov

It looks like Mercedes are going to try and put Bottas on a one-stop strategy.

21 Nov

Perez pits for hards. Expect Alonso to pit to protect against the undercut.

21 Nov

It looks like a good call from the team to me. He has a gap of 8.3s.

21 Nov

Hamilton: "That's definitely way too early to stop."

21 Nov

Mercedes respond by bringing Hamilton in, even though he wanted to stay out.

21 Nov

Verstappen pits! He puts on hards and rejoins just ahead of Alonso. That's an earlier stop than expected.

21 Nov

Bottas passes Ocon at Turn 1 to take P6.

21 Nov

Hamilton has a lead of 8.2s. This is dominant.

21 Nov

The Red Bull man is just under four seconds behind Alonso.

21 Nov

Perez moves past Norris, once again on the pit-straight. How did people overtake before DRS?

21 Nov

Bottas takes P7 from Sainz. He can get himself into the fight for P3 here.

21 Nov

It looks like it'll be a battle between Alonso and Perez for the final podium spot at this rate...

21 Nov

The Mexican gets ahead on the main straight.

21 Nov

Don't expect Gasly to hold up Perez for long. Maybe he'll "accidentally" go wide again...

21 Nov

Norris passes Gasly around the outside of Turn 1!

21 Nov

Hamilton is a lot faster than Verstappen at the moment. The gap is up to 5.7s and growing.

21 Nov

Perez is now right behind Gasly and Norris who are scrapping for P4. Alonso has a two-second gap over them.

21 Nov

Wolff: "Come on Valtteri, overtake these cars!"

21 Nov

Perez takes P6 from Ocon, again at Turn 1, while Stroll and Bottas both pass Tsunoda.

21 Nov

Verstappen may have some front-wing damage from going over the kerbs... Hamilton has opened the gap back up to 4.6s.

21 Nov

The Mexican passes Sainz around the outside of Turn 1 to take P7.

21 Nov

So too is his team-mate with Perez up to P8. With Bottas down in P11 meanwhile, this race is suddenly looking pretty good for Red Bull...

21 Nov

The Dutchman is rapid at the moment. He's closed the gap to 3.7s already.

21 Nov

Verstappen cruises past Alonso on the main straight on the next lap! He's up to P2 already!

21 Nov

Gasly goes wide at the final corner, allowing Verstappen to easily pass him on the main straight! A deliberate error from the Frenchman? Who knows...

21 Nov

Verstappen is struggling to clear Gasly. You'd imagine Red Bull will be sending a message to their sister team soon...

21 Nov

Hamilton has a 2.1s lead already, while Alonso is a second clear of Gasly.

21 Nov

Bottas meanwhile has dropped down to P11!

21 Nov

Verstappen is up to P4 already! What a start!

21 Nov

And we're off! The front three all make an even start with Alonso taking P2 from Gasly after Turn 1!

21 Nov

The formation lap is underway. Here we go...

21 Nov

In terms of strategy, this will most likely be a two-stop race consisting of two stints on mediums and one on either softs or hards depending on how long drivers can make tyres last.

21 Nov

In the top 10, the Mercedes pair, Sainz and Verstappen all start on mediums. The rest are on softs.

21 Nov

We've had the national anthem, the sun is setting and the drivers are getting into their cars.

21 Nov

The soft tyre may be slightly better for the initial getaway, but do those starting on mediums have an advantage after that as is usually the case? Well, the answer to that isn't as obvious as usual given how important track position is here.

21 Nov

Fernando Alonso: "We were happy in P5! P3 is another 16 metres and we take it, and let's see in Turn 1 if we can even attack the leaders. Lewis has to start on the medium tyre, Gasly on the wrong side. Let's see."

21 Nov

That's in large part due to the fact that it'll most likely be very difficult to overtake at this circuit, meaning Verstappen will have a hard time getting near his title rival.

21 Nov

Even so, the pole-sitter will fancy his chances of staying in the lead given the machinery he has. If he can stay in front at the start, he'll surely cruise to victory barring any incidents.

21 Nov

There's little doubt over who is the man to watch at the start. Alonso is renowned for his rapid getaways, is on the clean side of the grid, will have a tow from Hamilton and is on soft tyres while the Mercedes has mediums fitted.

21 Nov

So yeah, this is going to be a lot of fun...

21 Nov

That means the starting grid is as follows: Hamilton, Gasly, Alonso, Norris, Sainz, Bottas, Verstappen, Tsunoda, Ocon, Vettel, Perez, Stroll, Leclerc, Ricciardo, Russell, Raikkonen, Latifi, Giovinazzi, Schumacher, Mazepin.

21 Nov

The Dutchman was handed a five-place grid penalty for failing to slow for double-waved yellows and the Finn drops back three spots for failing to slow for single-waved ones.

21 Nov

Perhaps the most important thing in the session was a puncture rather than a lap time though. Gasly picked one up on his flying lap and stopped on the side of the track, causing yellow flags to be waved. Verstappen and Bottas were deemed by the stewards n

21 Nov

Tsunoda, Ocon and Vettel completed the top 10.

21 Nov

Behind them were Norris and Sainz, with both McLaren and Ferrari in somewhat unfamiliar territory this weekend, having slower machinery than AlphaTauri and Alpine.

21 Nov

Once again, Pierre Gasly was the best of the best, narrowly beating Fernando Alonso to P4. The two have been at the front of the midfield all weekend.

21 Nov

Lewis Hamilton claimed pole position with ease, going just under half a second faster than Max Verstappen, who beat Valtteri Bottas to P2 by a further two-tenths.

21 Nov

Well, for reasons that we'll explain in a minute, qualifying didn't exactly fully determine the starting grid for today, but here's what happened in it anyway...

20 Nov

Hamilton finishes it on top, 0.95s ahead of Verstappen.

20 Nov

No real surprises in Q1 with those out being Raikkonen, Latifi, Giovinazzi, Schumacher and Mazepin.

20 Nov

Russell sneaks through to Q2 in P15.

20 Nov

Stroll pushes Kimi into the drop zone.

20 Nov

P10 for Leclerc. That knocks Latifi out.

20 Nov

Raikkonen moves up to P14.

20 Nov

Leclerc had his second timed lap deleted for track limits and is therefore P15.

20 Nov

Latifi improves to go P14 and push Stroll into the bottom five.

20 Nov

Both Red Bulls improve with Perez moving up to P4 and Verstappen taking P1 by 0.020s from Bottas who also went faster.

20 Nov

The drop zone after the first runs: Latifi, Raikkonen, Giovinazzi, Schumacher, Mazepin.

20 Nov

Alonso goes P3. He's looked good all weekend.

20 Nov

Bottas and Perez don't do good laps and go P6 and P7 behind the AlphaTauris and Norris.

20 Nov

Hamilton does a 1:22.019 with Verstappen 0.215s slower.

20 Nov

The Ferrari pair take the top spots early on with Sainz doing a 1:23.323.

20 Nov

Q1 is underway.

20 Nov

Asides from AlphaTauri, Ferrari and Alpine look to be the strongest midfield runners with McLaren struggling so far.

20 Nov

Verstappen and Sergio Perez have actually been closer to Pierre Gasly than the Mercs so far this weekend, with the Frenchman finishing in P2 in FP1 and FP2 and P4 this morning.

20 Nov

As for Red Bull, things have been far from ideal, with both cars having issues with their rear wings. What's more, Verstappen looked good in FP1, going fastest, but was a long way off Bottas in FP2 when the sun and temperature had dropped as is the case f

20 Nov

His team-mate looked even stronger though, topping the second session in a row. Going by practice alone, we'll see Valtteri Bottas on pole, but Hamilton always finds an extra gear in qualifying...

20 Nov

Lewis Hamilton struggled yesterday but found his feet in the final practice session, taking P2 with a gap of just under three tenths to Max Verstappen behind him.

20 Nov

After this morning, one team head into this as big favourites to take pole position; Mercedes.

20 Nov

Perez just couldn't find any pace, and that could have a big impact on the title fight. Verstappen is now up against two faster cars and doesn't have a team-mate to help him out tomorrow...

20 Nov

Those out: Perez, Stroll, Leclerc, Ricciardo, Russell.

20 Nov

Great jobs from Alonso and Vettel who finish the session in P3 and P8 respectively.

20 Nov

And Perez! He puts on softs but can only go P11! That's a big shock.

20 Nov

So too is Ricciardo.

20 Nov

Leclerc and Stroll are out.

20 Nov

Norris puts on softs and goes P8, pushing Stroll down to P11.

20 Nov

Russell heads out early for his second run but can't improve.

20 Nov

Perez may well be forced to qualify on the softs which would be a blow to his race strategy.

20 Nov

The drop zone after the first laps: Norris, Perez, Russell, Ricciardo, Leclerc. That'll be some result if it stays like that...

20 Nov

Vettel and Stroll take P9 and P10.

20 Nov

Alonso and Ocon, on softs, go P6 and P7, led by Alonso.

20 Nov

Russell is on softs and is in P9 ahead of Ricciardo and Leclerc who may well have to use the faster tyre themselves to get into Q3.

20 Nov

The Red Bulls, Mercedes, Ferraris and McLarens are all on mediums.

20 Nov

Perez only goes P8, just behind Norris.

20 Nov

Gasly has opted for softs and takes P2.

20 Nov

Bottas and Verstappen, also on mediums both go three tenths slower.

20 Nov

He does a 1:21.682.

20 Nov

Hamilton the first frontrunner to start his lap, on mediums.

20 Nov

Green lights for Q2.

20 Nov

Can Verstappen and Red Bull do anything to stop their rivals? We'll find out at 17:00 tomorrow. Thanks for sticking with us today and see you then!

20 Nov

Well, what a huge opportunity Hamilton and Mercedes now have to take a big step towards winning their respective titles.

20 Nov

The full starting grid for tomorrow's race: Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas, Gasly, Alonso, Norris, Sainz, Tsunoda, Ocon, Vettel, Perez, Stroll, Leclerc, Ricciardo, Russell, Raikkonen, Latifi, Giovinazzi, Schumacher, Mazepin.

20 Nov

Tsunoda, Ocon and Vettel complete the top 10.

20 Nov

Norris and Sainz will start alongside each other in P6 and P7 and will be hoping to avoid a repeat of what happened in Brazil where they touched at Turn 1.

20 Nov

Gasly's first lap was good enough to secure P4 for him, and Alonso will start alongside him tomorrow after an excellent qualifying for the Alpine man. If he has a trademark rapid start tomorrow, things could get interesting...

20 Nov

Hamilton would have taken pole with ease regardless though. He was on another level today.

20 Nov

Gasly was off the racing line but he still caused brief yellow flags which ruined a few flying laps.

20 Nov

Verstappen improves to secure P2 as Bottas can't go faster but there's a big gap to Hamilton.

20 Nov

Gasly has a puncture!

20 Nov

Hamilton goes 0.435s faster! What a lap!

20 Nov

Verstappen will be the last.

20 Nov

Again, Hamilton will be the first to start his flying lap.

20 Nov

Verstappen will need an absolute stunner of a lap here.

20 Nov

Everyone heading out for their final laps...

20 Nov

Gasly is the best of the rest just ahead of Alonso with their team-mates in P8 and P9 behind Sainz and Norris.

20 Nov

Verstappen splits the Mercedes pair and is 0.162s off Hamilton. That's a good lap.

20 Nov

Bottas is 0.216s slower.

20 Nov

He does a 1:21.262.

20 Nov

Hamilton will be the first across the line...

20 Nov

Q3 is underway.

19 Nov

Hamilton seemed to be as surprised as all of us, asking Bono if they were" slow on the straight or something?"

19 Nov

That didn't go the way that many expected, with Verstappen comfortably ahead of the Mercedes drivers.

19 Nov

Not that it matters much. FP1 is now over anyway.

19 Nov

Bono to Hamilton: "I think we may have to box, box...we may have a car issue."

19 Nov

Schumacher goes off into the gravel, bringing out yellow flags. He managed to get back onto the circuit though.

19 Nov

Gasly is the last driver to put on softs and he goes P2 on them, 0.437s slower than Verstappen.

19 Nov

Norris has headed back to the pits to get the damage to his floor repaired and it looks like he'll be able to get a few more laps in.

19 Nov

One thing standing out about this track is just how dusty it is...

19 Nov

Michael Masi confirms that track limits aren't being monitored this morning with every driver being allowed to find their feet.

19 Nov

Hamilton goes P3. As for Perez, he hasn't used softs yet.

19 Nov

He doesn't stay there for long as Verstappen goes four-tenths faster.

19 Nov

Most drivers are going onto the soft compound now. Bottas does so and goes top with a 1:24.194.

19 Nov

Vettel puts on softs and heads out to do some presumably fast laps, unless he's carrying a lot of fuel.

19 Nov

Norris runs wide over the kerbs and loses a bit of bodywork. There are big run-off areas here, but the kerbs are dangerous.

19 Nov

Every driver has done at least seven laps already with Sergio Perez doing the most, 13.

19 Nov

The surface, which looks remarkably smooth, is definitely getting bedded in with more grip being found by the drivers.

19 Nov

The times continue to come down. Norris now moves up to P1 with a 1:25.215 before Verstappen goes 0.217s faster.

19 Nov

There's a fairly even spread of hard and medium tyres on track at the moment, with the Alpines the only drivers on softs.

19 Nov

The Dutchman now takes P1 himself with a 1:25.669.

19 Nov

The Aussie goes fastest early on with a 1:26.727 on hard tyres. On the same compound, Verstappen is 0.102s off.

19 Nov

Plenty of cars heading out already. "This fun," says Ricciardo after his first laps.

19 Nov

Let's see if that's the case. FP1 is underway.

19 Nov

That's because, at first glance, this looks very much like a Mercedes circuit, with a very long straight that the German team will surely gain a huge amount of time on.

19 Nov

If the Dutchman is given a penalty, his P2 finish at Interlagos will become P3. That would cost him three points, and looking at this track, they're three points he really can't afford to lose.

19 Nov

We're waiting not only for that but also for a stewards' decision on Mercedes' request to review the incident between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in Brazil.

19 Nov

F1's first-ever session in Qatar will start in just under 20 minutes.

19 Nov

Hello and welcome to the Losail International Circuit for the Qatar Grand Prix weekend. The first time ever in F1 history! We'll have all the build-up to FP1 from 1300 local time and the session itself gets underway at 1330.

19 Nov

Next up, before quali, is FP3, which will start at 14:00 local time tomorrow. Thanks for joining us today and see you then.

19 Nov

So, Red Bull top one practice session, Mercedes top the other. The German team look slightly stronger ahead of qualifying, but Verstappen and Perez could well challenge them if the team can solve their rear-wing issues. Checo's was flapping a lot in FP2.

19 Nov

The title rivals take P3 and P4 behind Gasly, with neither of them looking particularly comfortably as of yet.

19 Nov

Bottas tops it comfortably and is looking fastest of anyone in every area.

19 Nov

That's that for FP2.

19 Nov

On the longer runs, Bottas is around a second faster than Hamilton and Verstappen. Things are looking good for him.

19 Nov

A few drivers have had issues with traffic today, which will make things interesting in qualifying and the later stages of the race...

19 Nov

Verstappen is back out on the same softs he used earlier. He's clearly seeing how long they can last.

19 Nov

The Red Bull drivers have completed the fewest laps of anyone in this session...

19 Nov

Perez is back in the garage having not set a flying lap on softs. His car's rear wing is being worked on.

19 Nov

With it being a dusty track, we maybe shouldn't be surprised by the strength of Bottas given his rally experience...

19 Nov

The Dutchman improves by a tenth to move up to P3, just behind Gasly who has just put in a very good lap.

19 Nov

Verstappen goes 0.007s slower than Hamilton on his first. Bottas is a step ahead of his rivals at the moment.

19 Nov

Not on his first lap as he finds himself in too much traffic and has to back off.

19 Nov

Perez is the first Red Bull to head out on softs. Can he get close to the Mercs?

19 Nov

Norris moved up to P3 on softs.

19 Nov

Bottas goes purple again while Hamilton also improves but is just over four tenths slower than his team-mate. He hasn't found his feet here yet.

19 Nov

So too has Stroll and he goes P3 on them.

19 Nov

Drivers have started to put on softs now, with the Mercedes pair both doing so.

19 Nov

The usual suspects go straight to the top with Bottas and Hamilton the top two followed by Verstappen and Perez. The Finn did a 1:23.324 with all on mediums.

19 Nov

Mediums and hards are the tyres of choice with nobody on softs.

19 Nov

As was the case this morning, nobody is waiting around in the garage with 19 cars setting times already. Mazepin hasn't and won't take part in the session due to chassis repairs.

19 Nov

Our first observation is that the cars look absolutely wonderful underneath the floodlights here.

19 Nov

With the FIA announcing that Mercedes' right to review Max Verstappen's aggressive defence in Brazil has been denied, we can all fully focus on the on-track action again now. On that note, FP2 is underway.

19 Nov

After one practice session though, every team should have a much better idea of what kind of setup is needed here, so we should get a better idea ourselves of what the pecking order will look like this weekend in the next hour.

19 Nov

That's a surprise given the straight-line speed of the W12 and the massive straight at this circuit, but Lewis Hamiilton and co could have been holding back or struggling to find the right setup.

19 Nov

The biggest talking point from it was that Max Verstappen was comfortably faster than both Mercedes drivers, and the Red Bull looked a lot more steady than the German car.

19 Nov

There weren't many incidents of note in FP1 this morning with every team and driver getting to grips with the circuit.

19 Nov

20 Nov

Quali will get underway in just under two hours, so join us back here then.

20 Nov

Further back, Alpine and Ferrari both look strong while McLaren have struggled so far this weekend.

20 Nov

If FP3 is anything to go by, Hamilton and Bottas will battle it out for pole later today while Red Bull will be battling Gasly rather than their title rivals.

20 Nov

F1's official qualifying pace graphic has Verstappen half a second down on the Red Bulls and it looks like that could be the case.

20 Nov

Practice for the weekend is done and dusted.

20 Nov

Gasly splits the Red Bulls right at the end.

20 Nov

The Red Bull man does a 1:22.651, 0.341s off Bottas.

20 Nov

Verstappen heads back out. He has only completed six laps so far today.

20 Nov

Verstappen heads back out. He has only completed six laps so far today.

20 Nov

Bottas does a 1:22.310. Mercedes are starting to look dominant.

20 Nov

Hamilton goes 0.185s ahead of his team-mate with a 1:22.388.

20 Nov

Perez does a good lap to go within 0.273s of Bottas on fresh softs.

20 Nov

Leclerc spins and goes off into the gravel at Turn 2.

20 Nov

Red Bull mechanics are working on Verstappen's rear wing again, with Adrian Newey coming down from the pit-wall to have a look.

20 Nov

Gasly goes between the title contenders in P3. He's had some serious pace so far this weekend.

20 Nov

The Red Bull rear wing is still flapping quite a lot...

20 Nov

The Mercedes drivers respond by improving themselves. Bottas is now 0.412 faster than Verstappen and Hamilton is just 0.082s behind the Finn.

20 Nov

The Mercedes drivers respond by improving themselves. Bottas is now 0.412 faster than Verstappen and Hamilton is just 0.082s behind the Finn.

20 Nov

Verstappen is out on track and fast. The Dutchman goes 0.031s quicker than Hamilton.

20 Nov

Hamilton takes P1 with a 1:23,152. He's 0.235s faster than Bottas.

20 Nov

Gasly, who was P2 in both sessions yesterday, spins at very low speeds. Strange one...

20 Nov

Bottas then goes half a second faster than the Alpine.

20 Nov

Alonso goes top with a 1:23.904.

20 Nov

Perez, also on softs, was pretty much level with Hamilton after the first two sectors but then went very wide and ended up six-tenths slower in P6.

20 Nov

Hamilton's first lap is a 1:23.950 while Bottas goes 0.069s slower.

20 Nov

It's getting busier now, with both drivers heading out on softs along with a few others.

20 Nov

Not many cars are heading out early with Esteban Ocon the only man on track at the moment.

20 Nov

Right then, FP1 is underway again, and hopefully for real this time...

20 Nov

Red Bull mechanics have formed a human wall in front of cameras to try and hide work being done on the rear wings of their cars...

20 Nov

The Haas mechanics are pushing the car back to the garage, so we'll get going again any minute now.

20 Nov

"The car did not sound right," says Mazepin.

20 Nov

Or not. The session has been Red Flagged as Nikita Mazepin has stopped at the end of the pit-lane. Good start...

20 Nov

FP1 is underway.

20 Nov

They'll also have to make sure they're not too aggressive on the kerbs though, with Lando Norris and Hamilton both picking up damage on them yesterday.

20 Nov

One thing drivers will have to get the hang of in this session is track limits that were introduced after FP1 yesterday. If they don't have a wheel touching the track or kerbs all the time, their lap time will be deleted.

20 Nov

Right now, the favourite for pole has to be Bottas. The Finn topped FP2 with ease and said he felt he was close to finding his "sweet spot."

20 Nov

His team-mate had much bigger issues though with the rear wing on Sergio Perez's car oscillating a huge amount.

20 Nov

Things weren't perfect for his title rival either, as while Max Verstappen topped FP1, he finished a long way behind Valtteri Bottas in FP2 and was also slower than Pierre Gasly.

20 Nov

Lewis Hamilton in particular struggled to find his feet yesterday, finishing in P4 in both sessions. He said afterwards that he was hoping to figure out why he was so slow overnight, but that's easier said than done...

20 Nov

There's plenty of work to do for plenty of teams and drivers before qualifying, including the top ones...
