Sergio Pérez upped his performance in 2020 and quickly established himself as a regular contender for a good points haul at Formula 1 races. His ability to always be on the button refreshed the interest in him and intrigued several team bosses as the various 2021 driver lineups had to be confirmed.
One of the teams that could not decide on their 2021 driver pairing was Red Bull Racing. The Austrian team gave their second driver, Alex Albon, ample chances throughout 2020 to prove his worth to the team, but his contract was terminated, with Red Bull Racing signing Pérez. This year, the Mexican will drive alongside F1's wunderkind Max Verstappen and will be tasked with helping the team take the fight to the Mercedes-AMG team.
