With the imminent arrival of the Golf 8 GTI, and facelifted Tiguan SUV locally later this year, the Taigo SUV will be joined by the hatch when it will be introduced in the local market in the first quarter of 2022.
The teaser image shows the apparent and possible LED headlight and grille design for the new seventh-generation model.

In South Africa, 66 454 units of the sixth generation Polo have been sold since it was launched in the local market in 2018. It is South Africa's second best-selling passenger model after the Polo Vivo, commanding an 18.4% share of the A0Hatch segment in the first quarter of 2021.
The VW manufacturing plant in Uitenhage, which is currently operating on a three-shift pattern, will be building the new Polo (including the Polo GTI) for local and international markets.
