- The new Audi S8 delivers 420kW and has a sprint time of zero to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds.
- A new curve tilting function helps the S8 carve through corners.
- Rear passengers can stream media to the 10.1-inch screen.
It's imposing - but not in an SUV sort of way – and comes fully loaded with technology and produces 420kW from a turbocharged V8.
It's an evolutionary recipe that has long defined Audi's S8.
Now, this quintessential icon of luxury comes with sharpened looks and every conceivable type of technology that Audi has under its belt. Audi's restrained styling with the S8 belies its potent power, but this time the S8's revised grille and more upright design imbue it with a bolder look. However, most of the visual updates occur at the front, and the S8's quad pipes and OLED lights are perhaps the only distinctive design at the rear.
It remains deceptively fast for its size. When it's not running cylinder de-activation to save fuel, it will launch itself from a standstill to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds – rivalling many of Audi's new EV models.
Regardless of the weather outside, tremendous speed and stability are made possible by Audi's quattro system, which delivers power to all four corners and keeps a firm grip on the big brute's movements.
Prominent features and large reserves of power
The suspension is highly intuitive, and besides firming or softening the ride, the new curve tilting function can lean the body into corners by up to 3 degrees. Other common pitching and rolling movements are effortlessly erased, and the car automatically lowers itself by 50mm to make getting in and out easier.
Any attempt at naming all of the S8's technology and acronyms is likely to come up short, but OLED (organic light-emitting diode) Matrix headlights will illuminate road markings and other potential hazards without dazzling other road users.

Rear passengers get a 10.1-inch screen equipped with HD resolution, and unlimited content streamed from personal devices. This back-seat ambience can be taken up a notch by choosing two electrically adjustable individual seats with every setting imaginable.
Prominent features and large reserves of power come at a starting price of R2 759 000, but if you want Audi's flagship in sedan form and with a silky V8 under the hood, this facelifted version brings some new tricks to the table.
