Thirty-nine years ago, the first compact sedan was unveiled by Mercedes-Benz. With the code name W201, the 190 and 190E, which was built between 1982 and 1993, ushered in the modern compact luxury saloon option for the brand.
The C-Class name was only adopted in 1993 when the W202 was launched.
