2020 was a challenging year for the automotive industry, but it has recovered as best it could from the impact left by Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown. The media industry, too, could not execute one of the most basic tasks of reporting on and review new vehicles.
Thankfully, things returned to some normality and could we review several new cars in the remainder of 2020.
Here's which cars the Wheels24 team chose as their top drives for 2020.
Janine van der Post:"We might not have driven as many as cars as per the norm, but it has surely given more perspective on the ones we have. Just before the hard lockdown hit, I was privileged to drive some amazing machinery. So while there might be some a supercar on my list, and Porsche's first electric sportscar, there are a few surprises too.
"The pandemic has made us all re-evaluate the simple things in life, and made us realise just how much we take for granted. Family is by far the most important in my life, and well, the rest of the cars on my list are vehicles which serves for practicality, a frugal consumption, and space for days so I can trek along my parents and other relatives. There are so many other great vehicles, but we'll list them on another day."
Charlen Raymond: "It may have been a tough year, but we managed to make the most of it. The Wheels24 team were fortunate enough to drive a number of new vehicles in this turned-on-its-head year, and, if anything, we got to experience some of the best machines this side of the equator. There are many standout cars to choose from, but the ones below have made 2020 a year to remember."
