Volkswagen officially debuted its all-new Golf 8 GTI in South Africa. Local fans and dedicated lovers of the most popular hatchback around were treated to the reveal on VWSA's social media pages, where the presenters took viewers through the car's history and the new model's biggest talking points.
And while on the topic of talking points, pricing is an important aspect of the new GTI. And, of course, it was the one subject the viewers were patiently waiting for. Finally, after a few suspenseful moments, the automaker announced the car would retail from R669 300, before options. For keen buyers looking to buy into the GTI fold, this might be good news, especially when measuring the car against its direct rivals.
Locally, the new GTI only has two direct rivals. Renault's Megane, along with the more potent RS models, has been discontinued.
