The Porsche 911 is one of the most revered sports cars globally, and at the top of its lineup sits two extraordinary cars: the GT2 RS and GT3 RS. For today, though, it is the latter that drew our attention. The GT3 first came to market little more than two decades ago, with the GT3 RS making its arrival a few years later.
In the decades since, the GT3 RS established itself as the go-to sports car and is, for many, the yardstick by which sports cars are measured.
And rightly so, because the GT3 RS is brilliant - almost beyond description. The latest 911 GT3 RS was in production between 2018 and 2019 and belongs to the 991.2 family of 911s. Wheels24 drove it in 2020 and was reminded just why it's such a machine. If we were by means to acquire one, the test team was adamant we'd do so without hesitation.
We viewed the AutoTrader classifieds section and scanned for the five most expensive 991.2 911 GT3 RSs.
Touching on R5 million
The most expensive GT3 RS is listed for R4 795 000. Like all the products listed in this article, the car is a 2019 model and powered by a 383kW 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine. At 5700km, it has the highest mileage, which is a fair bit more than the 1450km listed by the second GT3 RS (also R4 795 000).

The third 911 GT3 RS covered 1900km and is slightly more affordable than the first two (R4 650 900). The next car is decked in bright yellow - the same colour as the one we drove last year. It retails for R4 495 000 and covered 4100km.
The most affordable GT3 RS (in this company) is R700 000 cheaper than the model before it, and it has fewer km on its odometer, as well (3300km). Its colour, Lizard Green, is the most exciting of the lot.
Do note, though, that various factors impact a car's price. In other words, a 'clean' will fetch a higher price than one with a bit of history.
