The car was Honda's Sport Study Model (SSM), and as you would have easily deduced from the images, this was the start of S2000.


By 1995, Honda's NSX was an established high-performance vehicle, but the company wanted something more affordable to offer customers. Toyota had the mid-engined MR2, and although Honda must have been tempted to create a smaller NSX, they didn't.
