Electric vehicles (EV) are far more straightforward than fossil fuel vehicles (FFV) with their complex internal combustion engines. Guy Dormehl shares the many benefits of driving one in South Africa. 

EVs have one rotating part, a single-speed gearbox, no clutch, no hassle....in virtual silence. Smooth, with no vibrations. Simple to drive – one pedal driving. Press to go - lift to slow. No clutch or torque convertor; no gearchanges; no hesitations, just linear power and acceleration from all speeds. 

Simple and clean to keep fully charged: Charge at home at any time, but usually overnight. Merely plug in like your cellphone – quick and easy. Wake up every morning to a full car and a fresh coffee!

No more time-consuming diversions to smelly, busy and unpleasant fuel stations.
