Cape Town - The Volkswagen Polo Vivo remains South Africa’s top-selling passenger car but the big surprise in July 2017 is the inclusion of Kia and Hyundai local sales, reports Naamsa.
Kia and Hyundai were among a number of automakers that do not disclose their model sales but in July 2017 have shared their respective figures.
Good news for SA! Car sales rise, 'massive' increase in exports
The top 10 passenger cars for July all sold in excess of 600 units. At the top of this list the Polo Vivo (2675 units) and VW Polo (1623 units) continued their strong march for the German brand.
Toyota occupies slots three and four with its Corolla/Auris/Quest (148 units) and Fortuner (1033), followed by the Ford Fiesta (998 units) and Toyota Etios (973 units).
The Ford EcoSport (851 units) and Renault Kwid (799 units) fill slots seven and eight. The Datsun Go registered 647 but was bettered to ninth place by the Picanto on 659.
Naamsa commented: "The new car market reflects an encouraging turnaround and at 30 826 units recorded a gain of 1791 cars or 6.2% compared to the 29 035 new cars sold in July last year."
