Ford has added yet another special edition Ranger bakkie to its ranks with the introduction of the Stormtrak.
The bakkie is distinctive with exterior additions like 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, Stormtrak decals, a black mesh grille with red inserts. Customers can also choose between Sea Grey, Frozen White, Blue Lightning and a new Lucid Red paint scheme.
Nothing changes in the performance department - it is powered by the brand's capable 2.0-litre bi-turbo engine with maximum outputs of 157kW and 500Nm, paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing starts from R790 300 for the 4x2 model, while the 4x4 variant costs R846 500.
Chasing a storm
In the way of cabin convenience is kitted with illuminated front scuff plates and red stitching found on the leather seats, dashboard upper, steering wheel and gear lever. A SYNC3 infotainment system with embedded navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a USB charging port ensure driver convenience.
The bakkie is comprehensively specced with safety and convenience features like FordPass, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Collision Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Alert and Lane Keeping Aid, and Driver Alert System.
Also included in the package is a new Semi-Automatic Parallel Park Assist (SAPPA), LED headlights and daytime running lights, Power Roller Shutter and an adjustable bed divider.
The bakkie comes standard with a four-year or 120 000km warranty, three-year or unlimited distance roadside assistance, five-year or unlimited km corrosion warranty and a six-year or 90 000km service plan.
