It's been a while but the Jeep Gladiator is finally in South Africa, and the automaker reckons it offers customers a true lifestyle alternative in a popular segment.
First unveiled at the 2018 Los Angeles auto show, the Jeep Gladiator has been rebirthed since the original was launched in 1962. After being discontinued in 1992, the automaker revived the pickup truck and it went on sale in 2019 in the US. Now, three years later, it has arrived in South Africa.

The automaker reckons its the most capable pickup its ever produced and builds on a rich heritage of rugged, dependable Jeep trucks with a robust combination of robust utility, authentic brand design, open-air freedom, clever functionality and versatility, advanced fuel-efficient powertrain, superior on- and off-road dynamics, and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology features.

The all-new Gladiator features Command-Trac and Rock-Trac 4x4 systems, third-generation Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential, segment-exclusive sway-bar disconnect and off-road tyres to offer superb off-road capabilities.
The Gladiator is only available in one model derivative in South Africa, the Rubicon. Still, it's filled with every available feature the pickup has to offer to meet the demands of local customers.
Under the bonnet, the proven 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission delivering 209kW and 347Nm. It is engineered to provide a broad torque band focused on low-end torque, an essential trait needed for extreme off-roading, hauling cargo, or towing a trailer.
The Gladiator is priced from R1 259 900 and comes with a three-year or 100 000km maintenance plan and a five-year or 100 000km warranty plan.
