New 2.5-litre Boxer engine debuts

As mentioned, the latest models will be offered with a new 2.5-litre direct injection engine mated to the familiar Lineartronic CVT. Peak power from the motor is 136kW and torque is quoted at 239Nm.

The engine has 21kW and 43Nm more in comparison to the previous generation's 2.0-litre engine.

Flagship Sport model

A 2.5i-Sport model is offered in five exclusive colour combinations, Subaru says.

The use of contrasting the body colour with orange and black trim pieces sets it apart from other models in the range. The grille and bumper elements are finished in black as are the side sills, wheel arch surrounds, rear bumpers and the top section of the boot lid.

Also exclusively available on the Sport model is the addition of new water-repellent seats, the first of their kind offered locally, the carmaker says.

Myriad of safety advancements available

The 2.5i-Sport ES and the 2.5i-S ES models are fitted with the brand's EyeSight safety system that uses camera technology and integrates adaptive cruise control, automatic pre-collision braking, lane departure and sway warning, and lane keep assist.

AWD with X-mode

The entire 2021 Forester line-up offers the carmaker's symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

Maintaining traction is managed through a continuously variable transfer clutch that can transfer more torque to individual wheels where necessary, reading grip and slip levels and then feeding the torque where it is required.

There is also the selectable X-mode system that changes the off-road capability by managing the engine, transmission, AWD system as well as the braking and VDC system.
