Tile Africa opens new ‘lifestyle concept’ store in PMB

National tile and bathroom retailing giant Tile Africa has responded to remarkable growth in their existing Pietermaritzburg store, by launching an impressive new retailing venue in the CBD. Although very busy and successful, the company explained that the existing store — established in 2002 — was too small. Locals will be familiar with the location of the new venue, on Victoria Road in the old Metro Cash and Carry building.

This building has been extensively overhauled and revamped.

The move forms part of a wider Tile Africa expansion campaign and the company is in the process of revamping and launching several new concept stores across SA.

Tile Africa boasts 40 stores nationally including four in KZN.

"We are very optimistic about the market. The store is one of the new and unique ‘lifestyle concept’ stores, unparalleled in the tile and bathroom ware market. A house setting has been built within the store, where customers can wander through bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and studies, all beautifully tiled, furnished and styled," store manager Oroshan Mohanlal said.

The company is upbeat about the potential of both the domestic market and the "developer market".

Mohanlal, who has been working in the retail industry for 20 years, explained: "Tile Africa has invested a lot in the project because of increasing demand for our products … We have created lifestyle displays to showcase our latest product offering."
