Seven people were killed and nine others seriously injured following a minibus taxi crash on the R56, near Richmond, in KZN Midlands on Saturday evening.

It is alleged that a minibus taxi collided head-on with another vehicle near the Flower Farm turn-off.

According to Mi7 National Group’s Emergency Medical Services, the accident took place just after 6pm.

“Unfortunately, seven people sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased. Multiple emergency services were on scene to treat and transport patients to various hospitals,” said Mi7.

Apparently the taxi was travelling from Richmond and to Pietermaritzburg.
