Two men died in a hail of bullets in a car on Watterson Street in Marburg on the Ugu South Coast on Tuesday.

According to sources, occupants of a silver van allegedly fired high calibre ammunition on the two men.

They added that the silver van sped off towards Izotsha, saying that the van was also found on fire on the back road of Izotsha on Tuesday.

They also alleged that the shooting is linked to taxi violence

Meanwhile, KZN police spokesperson, colonel Thembeka Mbele, said the motive for the attack is unknown and a case of murder has been opened at the Port Shepstone SAPS for investigation.

“On November 30 at 2pm, police received a complaint of a shooting that took place on Watterson Street in Marburg. Upon their arrival at the scene, police discovered two bodies- of a 35-year-old and 49-year-old male victim inside a white motor vehicle with gunshot wounds to the body,” said Mbele.

She added that the men were declared dead on the scene.
