James Bond star Sean Connery dies at 90

Award-winning Scottish actor Sean Connery has died, according to reports from the BBC.

The star, best known for his role as James Bond in the movie franchise, was 90-year-old.

He died overnight in his sleep, the BBC reports, adding that the actor had been “unwell for some time”.

Connery’s other films include The Hunt for Red October as well as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The actor bagged himself an Oscar in 1988, and in 2000 was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace.

News of Connery’s death spread quickly on social media on Saturday afternoon, with many left in shock by the news.
