Review of Dorah Sitole — 40 Years of Iconic Food

A doyenne of cookery in South Africa, Dorah Sitole’s reputation as a food writer and cook is legendary and in this glossy cookbook, it’s easy to see why she enjoys the respect she garners.

Sitole’s recipe book is interspersed with short pieces of touchingly personal autobiographical writing which provide a wonderful insight into the passion and determination of a woman who wanted to learn her craft and prove herself in a world that was not always that inviting. They are fun to read and provide context that makes one feel Sitole is worthy of all the accolades she’s received.
