Durban police are searching for the family of a baby who was abandoned in a dustbin in July.

KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit needs help to find the parents or relatives of the pictured baby to help solve a case of child abandonment, 

“It is alleged that on July 10, 2021, at approximately 10.15 pm, the infant was found alive by police abandoned in a dustbin at Boscombe Place behind a hotel in Durban.

“It is suspected that she was abandoned on the day she was born. The Durban Central FCS Unit is investigating a case of child abandonment.”

Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the parents or relatives of the child can contact the investigating officer detective constable Dludla at 061 375 4876 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
