At least five taxi bosses have been killed around Durban since December.

Spokesperson of the South African National Taxi Council in KZN Sifiso Shangase expressed alarm at the killing of taxi bosses. “While the taxi association is still celebrating that road accidents involving taxis had decreased, we don’t understand what the cause of these killings are.

He said most of the killings were happening in Durban due to the city’s attracting taxis from different areas of the province.
