One person was killed, and another person is recovering in hospital after gunmen entered their home in Umlazi D-section, Durban, and opened fire on Thursday night.

Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 spokesperson, said the incident happened just after 7 pm.

He said reports indicate that a man and a woman were shot when armed men entered their house and opened fire.

Herbst said when paramedics arrived, the man had already died from his injuries and the woman, who had multiple gunshot wounds and was in a serious condition, was transported to hospital.

The scene was secured by the Umlazi SAPS who will be investigating further, said Herbst
