Emotions ran high on the second day of the hearing looking into the July unrest as witnesses testified on the violence in Phoenix.

As many as 33 people were killed during the unrest and many were injured.

The witnesses said a group of people had blocked entrances to Phoenix and they were stopped and asked about where they were going. Their cars were searched and they were assaulted, sworn at and called racist names.
