Metered taxi owner Innocent Chamane (39) was killed in a drive-by shooting outside his Umhlanga apartment on Thursday.

According to Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the provincial police spokesperson, officers responded to complaints of multiple gunshots on Meridian Drive in the morning.

“It is alleged that whilst the victim was seated in his vehicle outside his home, unknown suspects parked next to him and opened fire. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head [and] body and was confirmed dead at the scene,” said Mbele.
