Investigations are underway to determine the cause of a dangerous factory fire in Durban after fire fighters spent hours trying to get it under control on Wednesday morning.

According to Garrith Jamieson, an advanced life support paramedic, the fire broke out around 2am on Balfour Road, in the Jacobs area.

“Paramedics arrived on scene together with the eThekwini Fire Department to find a company well alight. As you can see by the images, the factory was burning quite quickly and then the fire quickly spread through to neighbouring businesses,” said Jamieson.

Paramedics have been standing by but no person has been reported injured.

By 7am, Jamieson said the fire was still active but under control by fire fighters.

Jamieson said the fire has caused a lot of damage to the factory and its neighbouring businesses.
