Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, has announced that the 2021 local government elections will be held on November 1.

Briefing the media on Wednesday, Dlamini-Zuma said the elections date would officially be gazetted on September 20, to allow citizens enough time to register for the polls.

“This is because if we gazette it now then the voter registration process will have to close immediately, thereby depriving citizens enough time to register,” she said.
