Four people have been killed and three are in critical condition following a taxi crash on the R56 towards Richmond on Saturday afternoon.

It is alleged that the horror crash took place near the Flower Farm turn-off.

A taxi allegedly collided head-on with another vehicle.

Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, confirmed the crash. He said 12 people were injured. Three of them sustained critical injuries, while nine sustained moderate to serious injuries.

More details around the crash were still being established.

This is a developing story.
