IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa.

The future of IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa could be in the balance after a powerful block in the party revolted against him over the party’s coalition policy.

The IFP leaders opposed to Hlabisa have accused him of alienating the party by “dragging” the IFP into a coalition with the ANC.

The Witness has established that the IFP’s eleventh hour decision to walk away from a co-operative deal with the ruling party in hung municipalities came after IFP bigwigs had gained an upper hand over Hlabisa.
