IFP councillors in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) in the Ugu District on the South Coast staged a walkout during council proceedings on Tuesday.

This comes after 37 ANC councillors in RNM united in voting for the postponement of electing a mayor, deputy mayor and chief whip.

According to sources, the reason for the postponement was because some ANC councillors are unhappy with the party’s mayoral candidate, the suggested deputy mayor and the candidate chief whip.
