Compulsory Covid-19 vaccination requirements for work and public spaces could soon be on the horizon for South Africa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa said a task team has been set up by the government to consider whether to make vaccines mandatory for specific locations and activities.

“We do realise that the introduction of such a measure is a difficult and complex issue but if we do not address this seriously and as a matter of urgency, we will continue to be vulnerable as a people to new [Covid-19] variants and continue to suffer new waves of infection,” he said.
