The KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) is in shambles.

According to a report tabled by the KZN transport department before the provincial legislature’s transport portfolio committee, the RTI cannot even provide its traffic officers with uniforms.

The RTI is one of the province’s law enforcement agencies which failed to quell last week’s riots. According to the report, the inspectorate cannot even attend to some of the province’s road emergencies due to a shortage of vehicles.
