KZN police boss Lieutenant-General Khombinkosi Jula, who had a “fall-out” with the national police top brass over complaints during his tenure as Western Cape police commissioner, quietly exited the police service in January.

According to sources within the police, national police commissioner General Khehla Sitole was not impressed with the manner in which Jula discharged his duties during his stint as the Western Cape provincial police commissioner.

“There were too many complaints against him by several senior police officers in the Western Cape. The morale amongst the police dropped significantly, resulting in the fight against crime in the province being compromised,” the source said.
