The mayor of Alfred Duma Municipality, Vincent Madlala, appeared in the Ezakheni District Court in Ladysmith on Monday for the alleged unlawful possession of firearms.

The National Prosecuting Authority said in a statement that Madlala was released on R10 000 bail.

The NPA said Madlala, who is facing the charge with his daughter, Sanelisiwe Sinazo Madlala, is also facing an additional charge of defeating/obstructing the administration of justice.
