A former ANC Mkhambathini branch treasurer resigned from the party out of fear of being “assassinated” for lobbying party members to nominate him as a councillor candidate.

Former branch treasurer, Mthandeni Khumalo, on Thursday told The Witness that the attacks were at the behest of party members in the area.

However, the ANC Mkhambathini Ward 7 branch leadership said that the dispute which led to Khumalo and his family being harassed by unknown gunmen, had nothing to do with the ANC’s internal politics.
