As ANC factional battles in the party’s KwaZulu-Natal eMalahleni region intensify, police are under pressure to act against senior party members implicated in wrongdoing.

Barely a month after last year’s theft and assault case against Newcastle Municipality Mayor, Ntuthuko Mahlaba, was referred to the court for prosecution, his deputy Reuben Molelekoa, will also soon be in the dock on separate charges.

Molelekoa’s charges are in connection with a 2019 incident where he allegedly crashed a municipal car into two homes in Osizweni, Newcastle.
