The ANC has instructed its provincial leadership in KwaZulu-Natal and the national executive committee deployees to province, to urgently intervene in the ongoing violent protests.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe on Saturday said the destruction of property and infrastructure and looting accompany these protests must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

The protesters blocked KZN major roads, torched trucks and looted shops. They are calling for the release of former president Jacob Zuma from prison where he is serving a 15-month sentence for contempt of court.
