As Richmond municipality mourns the loss of their strategic manager due to Covid-19, the KwaZulu-Natal town near Pietermaritzburg has been rocked by the death of another senior official.
The senior human resources officer, Tyran Andrew Ramnath (38) died on Wednesday.
His death comes shortly after that of the strategic manager, Bigboy Mhlongo, who also died last week after his diagnosis with Covid-19. Mhlongo was laid to to rest on Wednesday.
"On behalf of Richmond Local Municipality I would like to send our deepest condolences to his family and the community of Richmond that he served. May we all find solace in knowledge that we all painfully share the untimely loss of yet again one of our very own days apart.
"Tyran was a good man who cared his community and worked diligently towards the development of his community. " said Mayor Simenenkosi Ndlovu.
Richmond has had several positive cases in the past two weeks, with even the municipal manager, Sikhombiso Mthembu, being diagnosed with Covid-19.
The Witness previously reported that the staff said the human resources department failed to implement the Covid-19 protocols when the first few cases were reported which allegedly exposed more employees to the virus.
