The Ethiopian community in Durban is devastated after the Debre Bisrat St Gabriel Ethiopian Orthodox Church, in Westridge, burnt down on Sunday evening.

The eThekwini fire department and police are still investigating the cause of the blaze.

According to Serawit Demelew, the secretary of the church, everyone left the premises around 11 am after their regular Sunday service.
