Ugu District Municipality must urgently appoint a chief financial officer to get its finances in order, the portfolio committee on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) in the National Assembly said yesterday.
The committee visited the municipality on Wednesday, after it emerged that Ugu’s expenditure on Covid-19 (R28 876 322) was among the highest in the province.
The visit also formed part of the committee’s week-long oversight programme in the province.
