Deadly crash: Court date for 19-year-old driver

A 19-year-old man is set to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on charges of culpable homicide and drunken driving following a horrific collision at Pepworth, just outside Ladysmith, on Sunday.

An Mpumalanga mother, who was pregnant with twins, and her toddler, died in the accident.

Four other people sustained critical injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

It is alleged that a bakkie with a trailer and a blue BMW collided on the ModderSpruit bridge.

A third vehicle is thought to be have been involved in the crash, but further investigation will have to be done to confirm the cause of the accident.
