A driver was trapped in his car and two others were injured in a head-on collision on the N2 near the Mvoti Toll Plaza on the KZN North Coast on Thursday morning.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Paul Herbst, the driver of a bakkie travelling on the northbound lane allegedly lost control causing it to cross the centre median and collide with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

“The driver of the vehicle which was travelling south, was heavily entrapped in the wreckage and paramedics and firefighters worked to free the man.

“Once freed from the vehicle, the critically injured man was further stabilised before being transported to hospital. Two additional patients were also treated on the scene and transported to medical facilities.”
