The family of Adrian Nel, who died in a suspected terrorist attack in Mozambique last week, say he was supposed to be celebrating his 41st birthday this Thursday, April 1.

Within his immediate circle of family and friends Nel was known as the “April Fool’s baby” both because of the date of his birthday and his sense of humour.

“Everyone had a funny April Fool’s day story with him. He was a very humorous person who liked playing, having fun and making everyone laugh. He was anything but reserved,” his aunt, Heather Janse van Vuuren, said on Sunday.
