Eskom has warned the public that inclement weather experienced over the past weekend has presented challenges to its infrastructure, leading to electricity supply disruptions in various areas across KwaZulu-Natal.
“The overwhelming number of faults experienced on our networks has negatively affected Eskom’s ability to respond to high volumes of supply interruptions. We have deployed teams of technicians who are working extended hours to attend to the increased workload,” said Eskom.
The power utility said some of their customers would have received SMSs indicating that electricity supply has been restored. However, this could likely apply to customers who are on the main part of the networks.
“As a result, some customers who are on the peripherals could still be without electricity. We urge those customers to contact our Customer Contact Centre on 08600 37566 to log a new fault.
“Eskom appeals for the cooperation of the general public and encourage them to report faults or any potentially disastrous conditions, e.g. sagging powerlines, damaged infrastructure etc, to our Customer Contact Centre on 08600 37566 OR send an SMS to 084 655 5778, 082 941 3707 and 083 647 1951, so that officials could attend to them as soon as possible."
