The Umsizi Umkomaas Vervet Rescue Centre, which took legal action after its monkeys were seized recently, is located in a special residential zone and can’t keep vervet monkeys, according to eThekwini Municipality and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.

In addition, Ezemvelo also said in papers before the Pietermaritzburg high court on Wednesday that the premises were not fit to accommodate any animal.

The application was adjourned because a legal representative involved in the case was sick.
