An 83-year-old woman was left severely injured after she was mauled by her two pet pit bulls in Richards Bay on Sunday afternoon.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the incident happened at around 4.30 pm at a house in Meerensee, Richards Bay.

Herbst said the woman had suffered traumatic injuries to her limbs, head and upper body. He said the two pit bulls were the woman’s pet dogs.

The woman was taken to hospital.
